Three year project keeps water sites secure

A year-long project to re-secure Anglian Water’s clean water sites with a new, custom-built, master key suite has ensured that the utility maintains an exemplary security record.
Regularly reviewing and updating the security of its property portfolio is a key area of business continuity for Anglian Water, and Lincoln Security has been helping the utility to stay on top of this huge challenge for the past 25 years.
The latest project, which ended in March 2010, saw Lincoln Security undertaking a three month survey of the utility’s clean water sites, building a new master key suite, and installing new locks to everything from rest rooms to reservoir hatches and perimeter gates.
Installation Director Julie Froggatt oversaw the completion of the project. ‘The surveys involved visiting every site in all of the 11 areas covered by Anglian Water, from the Humber in North East Lincolnshire down to Ipswich and Colchester in the South East. From this we were able to draw up clear specifications for each of the locks or security devices identified and provide costings to the client. We then provided a clear project management plan for installing locks to our client’s assets at the appropriate level of security required.’ said Julie.
Lincoln Security’s expert team of in-house locksmiths built the hundreds of locks needed for the project and delivered them via a ‘just-in-time’ system that ensured the locks were ready for the dedicated four-strong teams of engineers on a weekly basis.
‘We were very satisfied that the project ran so smoothly,’ said Julie. ‘The customer was delighted with the service we provided.’
Anglian Water’s Security Manager, Lynda Chamberlain, said: ‘We worked very well with Lincoln Security. They are a family business and this really shows in the service they give. Our contract went very smoothly and they really did an excellent job.’
