Are you a trained  Mechanical Engineer with electronic security experience ?

Would you fancy a career with a well established  security provider?

Due to consistent growth within our Electronic Security department, Lincoln Security are seeking a qualified Mechanical Engineer, with an electrical bias, to join our well-established team in Lincoln. Only applicants with previous experience working within the security industry will be considered.

In this important role, you will be responsible for attending our client sites to install, maintain and service a range of mechanical devices, doors and associated products and equipment as well as electronic access control and door automation systems.

Based at our Whisby Way premises in Lincoln, you will be joining a company that has over the past 43 years grown from humble beginnings on Lincoln High Street, to become a leading security solution provider for National Infrastructure Sites throughout the country, whilst continuing to serve the local and regional  extensive Domestic and Commercial client base.

What you will be doing:

  • Providing excellent customer service and care to clients throughout the UK.
  • Installing, maintaining and servicing mechanical locking devices, doors and associated products and equipment.
  • Installing, maintaining and servicing electronic access control and door automation systems.
  • Be prepared to work and stay away from home when required (generous welfare and accommodation allowance provided).
  • Complete all necessary paperwork and reports (the company is ISO 2015 accredited to CHAS, UVDB, MLA and Construction Line).
  • Any other such reasonable duties as directed by the Electronic Security Installation Manager.

Who we are looking for:

  • Someone who can provide excellent customer service.
  • Proven experience with qualifications to prove competency (apprenticeship qualified, City & Guilds, degree).
  • Previous experience working within the security industry is essential.
  • Excellent attention to detail, along with a willingness to take responsibility, work competently under own initiative and rise to embrace a challenge.
  • A full understanding of electrical wiring principles.
  • Experience in working with metal and wooden door installations, wood work/joinery skills, steel and fabrication skills is essential.
  • An NGC competency would be advantageous along with BESC and offshore training being desirable.
  • Ability to work confidently within a team or alone.

Mechanical Engineer/Locksmith (Apprenticeship)

Apprenticeship to learn a trade in mechanical engineering in the security industry.

Under direct supervision carry out all works associated with the installation, maintenance, refurbishment of steel and timber door sets with all associated hardware, including mechanical locking devices, emergency exit hardware, master key systems, architectural ironmongery, installation of high security locking systems in accordance with job specification.

The duties will be performed at nationwide locations for companies that command a high level of quality and professionalism from its contractors.

You must be able to work under a high level of Health and Safety and be able to work in accordance with appropriate risk assessments and method statements in a diligent, conscientious and professional manner at all times.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To attend Lincoln College and attain a qualification in mechanical engineering.
  • To satisfactorily complete all college works and assignments on a timely basis.
  • To provide support to a fully qualified engineer who will provide mentoring and training in the workplace with a full learning plan.
  • Under direct supervision of the Supervising Engineer, to work under instruction when on site and strictly adhere to direction given.
  • Attend site specific training and develop relevant knowledge and skills.  To attend external and in house training courses.
  • Ensure conformance to all Company Policies and Procedures, Health and Safety requirements and ISO 9001:2008 Quality Standards.
  • Any other such reasonable duties.

Personal Specification:

  • You must be mechanically minded and be willing to learn and able to listen to instruction.
  • You must be well presented and personable, be able to work under your own initiative, able to communicate effectively.  You must be an excellent time keeper.
  • You must have some knowledge in the use of hand and power tools, but extensive training will be given.
  • If you are able to strip down equipment, fault find and re-assemble then this would be ideal for you.
  • The position will require you to be very flexible as you will be working away for possibly 2/3 nights per week– this could be in any location in the UK –all welfare/accommodation will be provided and paid for by the company.
  • A large majority of the work will be carried out on national infrastructure sites and you will be supervised at all times.

You will need to have a good sense of humor, willing to put your hand to anything, be able to think ahead and be proud of what you do.

Bench Locksmith/Masterkey Technician

Do you have a knack for repairing or rebuilding mechanical devices with a technical mind and an eye for detail?


We can offer a firm foundation with flexible hours for the right candidate who would like to be a bench locksmith within our Master Key Department. 

If you are an enthusiastic, skilled, motivated and preferably experienced then we are looking for you to join our dynamic team of experts.

What you will be doing:

  • Pinning up cylinders, locks and padlocks as part of the Master key systems.
  • Cutting various keys from copy or code.
  • Assemble, service and repair existing locks.
  • Record details of registered keys on our system database.
  • Understand stock control and management.
  • Ensuring Health & Safety procedures are followed at all times.
  • Accompanying engineers on site where possible to see finished products installed.

  • Well-presented, hardworking; technically and mechanically minded with an eye for detail.  
  • Able to communicate with confidence with a strong ability to multi-task.
  • Take pride in exceptional workmanship and be enthusiastic and energetic in your approach.
