Bespoke security system and key cabinets for National Grid

When the National Grid needed to improve its lock off systems at a 400kV substation in Nottinghamshire, it called on Lincoln Security to provide the solution.
The security experts were tasked with the design of a bespoke secure key cabinet and to provide specialist engraving services at an electrical substation.
Lincoln Security provided the cabinet, based around a double steel door and frame set, which houses padlock keys that lock off equipment from the system in the substation, ensuring it can be serviced and maintained safely.

We have worked with the National Grid for over 25 years, supplying them with a number of security systems including master key systems, key cabinets and safes, as well as bespoke lock off padlocks for when they need to improve security and to ensure site safety,

said Aiden Farrar, Company Director for Lincoln Security.
“The client provided us with a rough draft of the drawing for the back panel of the cabinet, which was then passed on to our specialist engraving department who designed a mock-up of the engraving positions.
Once approved by the client, we then produced the engraved back panels using state-of-the-art laser and rotary engraving machinery. The panels were then fitted to the back of the heavy duty key cabinet, which stood over two metres high.
The outer edge of the cabinet was then encased in a bespoke ash framework which was then installed by our highly skilled and qualified (NSI) fitting teams.
We are the only security company that provides this specialist supply chain with such a vast range of products and technical support. We have delivered this service to the majority of the National Grid’s assets throughout the UK.”
The Electrical Engineer for the National Grid said:
“Lincoln Security delivered a quality, bespoke key system which streamlined five of our key cabinets in to one coherent facility.
Their attention to detail is outstanding and they have provided us with a number of effective safety system hardware products including controlled unique lock suites and stainless steel key fobs with plant terminology engraved on both sides for easy reading.”
